While I was obsessing about clay, we were also making our wedding arrangements and could not find anything to use as a cake topper. We wanted our wedding to be more fun than formal, and none of the cake toppers we found had any sort of personality. So I decided to give it a try and make my own cake topper.
My husband has enjoyed doing magic since he was a kid, so that was the theme of our cake topper. It is on the table shown above, front and center, and <- here. The cards we are standing on are our wedding date - 10/10/98.
While playing with the clay, I was also learning how to create a web page, another talent uncovered thanks to Brent. I wanted to learn it and create a brag sheet for my little figures at the same time. After a few months and making a couple more cake toppers for friends, and posting them on my website, I received an email from someone I didn't know requesting that I make bride and groom moose. From that order, this business has really had a mind of its own and keeps me quite busy all year round.
It has been five years since I created our cake topper so I created this cake topper for my husband for our fifth wedding anniversary. It shows our careers, hobbies and furry kids' personalities.
My husband's hobbies are juggling (his clubs are behind his back), poker (signified by the chips near his feet), and collecting old decks of cards (which are scattered on the ground around him). Brent is a computer engineer and his company's logo is on his t-shirt. I play the clarinet in a community band (which I'm holding behind my back), and I love to read (several books are scattered around my feet). I put a little bride and groom in the background between our feet to signify my business. The black lump :) on my husband's shoulders is Bo, our bigmouthed cat who jumps on our shoulders at every opportunity. The little orange and white kitty in the front is Molly. She loves to chase the weeds we tease her with (which is what I am holding in the cake top). Click here for larger pictures.
